Activités
The project promoted soft skills, social inclusion and social diversity via workshops and social activities in mixed groups at our four meetings. Via communication and dissemination done by the pupils in mission groups, it was possible to present the progress as well as the results of the project. The work was done in several steps. The very first one was to consider specific project activities at each school, followed by a face-to-face project planning meeting between the teachers. The third phase included coordination and planning meetings with pupils and teachers via Teams. The four working and exchange face-to-face meetings in Almeria, Sindelfingen, Ettelbruck and St. Pölten were important milestones to achieve the objectives.

A new certification tool on “bicycle-friendliness” was developed and tested for schools. Three sniffer prototypes (AirScout) for recording environmental pollutants have been developed and tested. Information material on health and safety of cycling has been produced. All the results of the project including information to use the certification tool and to rebuild an AirScout are available on www.gm4s.eu. Students improved in teamwork, time management, presentation skills, communication, organisational skills and creativity.
Impacts
Participants greatly appreciated taking part in an international project, especially the exchange with pupils from other countries. The visit to the European Parliament in Brussels deepened their understanding of the EU and its institutions. Feedback from each mobility showed clear progress in key soft skills. Pupils shared their experiences with classmates, extending the project’s impact. The Erasmus+ project gained visibility outside of the school but within the school community as well, particularly during the partner schools’ visit in our school in Ettelbruck. The self-developed “Bicycle-Friendly School” audit tool was successfully applied in different schools. The project greenmobility@school was presented at the 2024 and 2025 BNE fairs to the Luxembourg Minister of Transport and to an Education Ministry official and presented on national radio.
Perspectives
By presenting our findings and results of the certification concept to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport, and the cycling organisation ProVelo, we highlighted that such a concept could also benefit Luxembourgish schools. As a result, a nationwide certification scheme may soon be offered to all schools in Luxembourg. At the Lycée Technique d’Ettelbruck, we continue working on the “Bicycle-Friendly School” concept to improve cycling conditions. The self-developed certification tool is available on our website www.gm4s.eu for all interested schools to use and gain ideas on how to become more bicycle-friendly. All documents of the AirScout air quality measurement system on bicycles are freely available for replication. The partnerships between schools were strengthened through this project and a new Erasmus+ project, wind@school, will be implemented with the same Austrian and German partners, plus a new partner school from Croatia.
