During World War II, the German army developed and deployed the Hetzer, a light tank destroyer, using components from the Czech 38(t) tank. Produced and operated from 1944 onwards, it had various variants, including one with an open-topped chassis mounting the 15cm s.IG.33/2 heavy infantry support gun. The s.IG.33, standardized in 1933, was a field gun that served until the end of the war, with various self-propelled versions created to enhance mobility.
